It would be nice to share plans somehow, for those who might want to go from GOTG to Sturgis. Don't know if I'm going to trailer or ride, but if I trailer my own, my son might go and that would leave an empty slot on my 3-bike trailer. Might be able to help someone else who wants to experience Sturgis while going Eastward but doesn't want to ride the whole way.
Just a thought? ALSO, I'm posting just to check the forums now - grin - so we'll see if it comes through, huh K'huna?? LOL! |

| Ride plans/itineraries to Ogden. This will allow riders lots of options to both get together with other riders to start or hook up along the route. Mutual support is a great thing and we all know "there is safety in numbers."
The same for the return from both Ogden and Sturgis.

CatBandit/LARider,
Great ideas! I will create a forum called "Going My Way?" to give attendees a place to share their ride plans with others.
I believe this will work for both of your suggestions.

Gary,
I recently searched "Utah helmet laws" and was directed to the AMA site where you can click on any state and find out not only helmet laws, but other facts that are interesting.
For example: (Utah only) Helmets are optional for adults, there are restrictions on handlebar heights, there are no restrictions on mufflers or noise (may be different locally?), it's OK to ride two-abreast, and "lane splitting" is NOT allowed.
Maybe an article on Utah/local laws would be useful for out-of-staters coming to GOTG?

Patrick,
People are going to have to travel through multiple states to get here. What was the site that had all the States Helmet Laws? |

Bullwinkle,
Good idea. Hope this is helpful.
The link I found was for the American Motorcycle Association at www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/laws.asp. I thought it was more useful than some other sites, as it included more info than just the helmet laws.
SAFETY 1st!!!...helmet law or no helmet law.

| Khuna, I personally would like to see a counter with the number of flags purchased or number shy of the goal of 5K for the Healing Field. With this information readily available we may all be able to email members to act if they wish one in a family member, friend or neighbors name. This would be much easier with a link right to the counter and site. |

tomp93,
Not a bad idea but the Healing Field flag sponsor data is all maintained by the Utah Gold Star Families. I know they are extremely busy as well as myself so keeping it updated would be difficult.
I can tell you that the current numbers are extremely low, approximately 400 out of the 5,000 flag goal has been sponsored so far.
In the past couple weeks we have seen the number start climbing but it's going to take some huge participation to reach our goal in time.
We really need our members to get the word out and to hope some businesses and organizations step up soon. Please encourage your local VFW's, AL's, MC's and others to consider sponsoring your state.
We may not reach our goal, but we would sure like to get as close as possible. Remember, the proceeds go to the HOTH program to help our veterans and their families.
