Hey there Silver Shadow! I will be camping my way to the GOTG in Ogden as well, from Oklahoma. I haven't settled on a route yet but I'd enjoy the company on the road and around the fire. CherokeeGhostRider Gary Stell

I've just about got my plan finalized.  It looks like I will leave Oklahoma City on Wednesday morning July 29th.  I will head northwest from Oklahoma City on Hwy 3/270 through Okarche, Kingfisher, Watonga, Seiling, Woodward, Ft. Supply, Guymon, Boise City and then up into Colorado through Sprinfield on US 287 all the way to Byers on Interstate 70 just to the east side of Denver.  There is a campground there where I will spend the night and then head to Ogden via, I-70 to I-25 to I-80.

Plan alteration number 1, hey it's early yet!

Anyway, I am now planning to leave Oklahoma City early the morning of Wednesday July 29th and head west on I-40 to Amarillo.  Hopefully I can hook up with other riders going that way.  I then plan to stop in Amarillo at the World Famous Big Texan Steak House for lunch.  It's a trip ya'll really need to see this place.  Yeah it's the place that has the 72 oz steak that you can have for free if you eat it in an hour.  "burp"

After a "light" lunch I plan to head north on U.S. 287 through the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, some really interesting country if you have never been through there.  I plan to gas up in Springfield, Colorado and continue up 287 to Limon, Colorado on I-70.  Just a few miles to the west of Limon is the town of Strasburg where I plan to camp for the night at a KOA.  The next morning after a nice pancake breakfast
I plan to head over to I-25 and head north into Wyoming, hit I-80 and head west.  Part of this ride will be really pretty and part of it will be really ugly, oh well.  Then hit I-84 in Utah through some awesome mountains on the east side of Salt Lake and take it to I-15 and Ogden.

Hopefully some of ya'll are heading that way.  I would really enjoy the company and we all know it's better to travel in numbers.

Have a great day!!!

Plan alteration number 2, hey it's still early!

Ok, I don't know if the people who read these postings have as much fun as I do in re-doing my route and posting it but hey I love maps!!!

Now I plan to ride west out of Oklahoma City to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Then I will head north on I-15 to Hwy 44 at Bernalillo and head northwest up to Bloomfield then west to Farmington continuing west to Shiprock then north to Cortez, Colorado.  From there northwest to Montecello, Ut. and then north through Moab to I-70.  Then west take the Price cuttoff northwest towards Salt Lake City and Ogden.

Stay Tuned!!!

Hey CherokeeGhostRider, Only 2 plan alterations, I think I'm on 10 and figure once I hit the road anything is possible. There is just so much of this great country to see between here (Minnesota) and there.

Always 72 and sunny!

Oh no, we change our minds alot, we just usually don't tell anyone!

Pacific Coast Highway?  I have only been on it in the middle of the state from San Luis Obisbo to North of San Clemente, but it is truly awesome.  I would LOVE to ride the entire length of it, there are some terrific vista's to enjoy.

SilverShadow, ridin and not campin? One of the things I am so looking forward to is the opportunity to visit and camp in some new and beautiful places in New Mexico and Utah. I plan to stay the first night at a New Mexico State Park and lake just northwest of Albuquerque and the second night out at the KOA in Green River Utah. 77 days and counting!!! Ride Safe! Hello Cherokeeghostrider,
Sounds like you have a plan! The closer it gets... the more it seems real! Yay!

The day we are on the road on our way is going to be sooo Awesome!

I'm still taking camping gear. I've never rode that far before, so I may NEED a bed some nights. I have a little back pain sometimes, so I'm gong to listen to it. Who knows.... I may do really well since I ride on a daily basis. I've been scouting out CG's along the way. We will need one for sure when we go to Sturgis. I'm going to see about the one that's close to the PGR member that posted on here. That's on the other thread.

Counting the days!
Ride Safe Always!

Yeah I can relate to the back pain deal. Got some today as a matter of fact. Any how, if I can I play to camp the whole time in Utah and Stugis. I'm staying at Shade Valley for Sturgis, really nice folks. "Freedom Ain't Free"
